Devlog 8: The Day Before
Hello everyone, this devlog corresponds to the latest update, so we will present the main achievements in the development of the video game.
Firstly, we successfully implemented the innovative mechanic we had planned. This involves selecting the enemies with whom we will battle during the game. Currently, there are 5 types of monsters, each with up to 3 variations. The selection of each monster affects the course of the encounter, and therefore, you must be careful in choosing your enemies. To aid in this, 3 abilities were created, which can be upgraded as enemies are defeated.
Additionally, monsters that influence the player's statistics were included. Two types of monsters were created to recover the player's lost health or enhance the player's movement speed.
Visual improvements were also made to the game. First, the addition of movement, static, and attack animations was implemented for the player, monsters, boss, and abilities. This allows for a better appreciation of the interactions between the character and their attacks with the enemies. On the other hand, there was a change in the background texture, which now reflects the intended game environment more accurately.
A tutorial option was added to the menu to help new players understand how the game works. It showcases the game interface, indicating the location of the health bar and how the character's attacks appear. It also provides instructions on controlling the character and exploring the map.
The victory menu visualization was improved as well. It offers several options, including exiting, restarting, returning to the main menu, and viewing the game's story. The latter provides a brief narrative about the game character, allowing players to immerse themselves in the world and better understand their purpose in it.
